Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience

We are a Brooklyn-based real estate investment, development, and construction company specializing in the acquisition, full renovation, and redevelopment of residential properties throughout Brooklyn.
Our projects include high-end brownstone and townhouse renovations, full-gut renovations, condominium conversions, property extensions, kitchens, bathrooms, and complete interior transformations. We manage multiple projects simultaneously and focus on creating attractive, functional, and market-ready homes with high-quality finishes.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Interior Designer and Renovation Project Manager to join our team full-time.
This is a hands-on position combining interior design, material selection, purchasing coordination, construction oversight, and project management. The successful candidate must be comfortable making design decisions and regularly visiting active construction sites throughout Brooklyn.
The designer will be responsible for developing a consistent design vision for each property and ensuring that the approved design is properly executed by contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Interior Design Responsibilities
- Develop complete interior-design concepts for Brooklyn brownstones, townhouses, condominiums, and other residential renovation projects.
- Select kitchen cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, hardware, appliances, and finishes.
- Select bathroom tiles, vanities, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, lighting, hardware, and accessories.
- Select flooring, paint colors, wallpaper, molding, trim, doors, railings, and decorative details.
- Select chandeliers, sconces, recessed lighting, pendants, and other light fixtures.
- Create material boards, finish schedules, design specifications, and organized selection lists.
- Prepare or review floor plans, furniture layouts, kitchen layouts, bathroom layouts, lighting plans, and tile-placement plans.
- Source materials that meet the project’s design, budget, availability, and construction schedule.
- Ensure that all selections work together and are appropriate for the property, neighborhood, and target buyer.
- Create attractive interiors that preserve the character of Brooklyn brownstones while incorporating modern layouts and finishes.
- Project Management Responsibilities
- Visit active construction projects throughout Brooklyn regularly.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, architects, cabinetmakers, suppliers, and vendors.
- Explain design specifications and material-placement requirements to construction teams.
- Confirm that tiles, flooring, molding, paint, cabinetry, lighting, and fixtures are installed according to the approved design.
- Identify design or construction issues before they create delays or additional costs.
- Monitor project schedules, material orders, deliveries, installations, and outstanding items.
- Maintain organized records of selections, pricing, orders, lead times, and delivery dates.
- Review construction progress and provide regular updates to company management.
- Create and manage punch lists to ensure that every project is completed properly.
- Assist in managing several renovation properties at the same time.
- Help keep projects on schedule and within the approved budget.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of professional interior-design experience.
- Proven experience working on residential projects in Brooklyn or the greater New York City area.
- Strong preference for candidates with direct experience renovating Brooklyn brownstones, townhouses, or other historic residential properties.
- Demonstrated experience selecting tiles, kitchens, bathrooms, paint, molding, flooring, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and decorative finishes.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and construction teams.
- Strong understanding of residential renovation and construction methods.
- Ability to read and understand floor plans, elevations, construction drawings, and design specifications.
- Excellent organization, communication, follow-up, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, orders, and vendors simultaneously.
- Must be comfortable working in the office and visiting active construction sites.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive regularly to properties throughout Brooklyn.
- AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design-software experience is preferred.
Portfolio Submission Is Required
Applicants must submit attachments or working links showing examples of their completed design work in Brooklyn or the New York City area.
Brownstone, townhouse, high-end residential, full-gut renovation, kitchen, and bathroom projects are strongly preferred.
Applications submitted without a portfolio, attachments, or links to relevant NYC-area work may not be considered.
