- In-House Engineer/Drafter

We are looking to bring on a full-time in-house Engineer/Drafter to support our expanding scope of work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of engineering design, problem-solving, and collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams.

Position Overview
The In-House Engineer/Drafter will be responsible for producing detailed drawings, engineering calculations, and technical documentation for commercial roofing, cladding, and glazing projects. This role supports both pre-construction and active project phases, ensuring designs meet structural requirements, manufacturer specifications, and building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation plans for roofing, cladding, and glazing systems
- Perform engineering calculations related to structural loads, attachment methods, and system performance
- Seal and sign architectural drawings, calculations, and other documentation as required
- Review architectural and structural drawings to identify project requirements and potential conflicts
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to develop constructible and cost-effective solutions
- Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure compliance with product specifications
- Assist with submittal packages, RFIs, and technical documentation
- Update drawings and engineering documents throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide technical support to field crews during installation
Requirements
- Professional Structural Engineer, Licensed in the Province of Ontario
- Experience in commercial construction; experience with roofing, cladding, or glazing systems is a strong asset
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software
- Strong understanding of building codes, structural principles, and envelope systems
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
